Staying Fit
Just because you can't compete in the iron man triathalon doesn't mean you can't be fit. Remember this when setting your fitness goals. By keeping your fitness expectations reasonable, you have a better chance of success. A little dedication won't hurt either.
I wasn't able to compete in several meets last year and especially regretted not being able to defend my running and jumping titles at the 2006 Huntsman World Senior Games. But a severe case of plantar faciitis has sidelined me. I am currently undergoing aggressive treatment and therapy and hope to be ready for the 2008 Reno Senior Games this spring. Be sure and watch my television show BILL'S TOTAL FITNESS on Reno cable channel 13. I have some new and informative shows planned for the upcoming year.
For a happier healther life, make fitness a part of your daily routine. I had always enjoyed athletic competition and being fit. Before I realized it I was middle aged, and not as fit as I once had been. Family, job and other responsibilities left me little time for staying active. That all changed when in 1998 a life-threatening event turned my focus toward athletic competition once again. After undergoing an angioplasty and stent implants, I was encouraged by my cardiologist to do more aerobic exercise. I did so in the form of swimming, biking, hiking and as soon as I could, I hit the track. It had been more than 25 years since my last competition, but I persevered in my goal to achieve my best fitness level....You can too.
